11 more original tracks written by Clive Mulcahy, Ray Bartrip and Giles King for Bad Town Blues' third album, "buffet flats" - it's a cracker !!
See what Ashwyn Smyth says:
Bad Town Blues is a band that brings together a superb rhythm section and three very talented but very different singer/songwriter/instrumentalists which means that this is a band which offers great variety as is reflected by this, their third CD. Whether it is rocking keyboard led boogie, Hammond orgy, guitar driven rock blues or full on down & dirty harp fiesta, BTB play it - very well.
Together as a band since the beginning of this century with their debut gig being at the 2000 Great British Blues Festival. They have deservedly forged a great reputation since then working all over the UK playing many clubs and festivals. Each of the band members brings something different to the mix from their previous careers with Clive having toured extensively with Tom Robinson's Crew and been an in demand session musician, Ray spent the 60's with the Worrying Kynde playing the trendy London Clubs as well as touring throughout Europe sharing the stage with many great names and has not stopped since! Giles is much in demand playing with Lightnin' Willie & the Poorboys as well as guesting with the likes of Matt Schofield and Ian Siegal. Drummer Reg has played in all sorts of bands over the last 40 years and is still first choice for many whilst Jamie is a bit of mystery having been a puppeteer for Jim Henson's company as well as a highly respected bass player playing for several bands at Glastonbury 07! This is Bad Town Blues' third CD and finds them in somewhat darker territory than the previous two and early reaction to numbers from this CD which have found their way into the band's live set is very favourable.

After the success of "Essex Delta Blues .....A Sampler", tracks from the CD were played on radio stations around the World including Croatia, the United States, France and Australia as well as here in the UK and many of the contributors were offered bookings as a result of the added exposure the CD gave them, it is great to see a second volume, this time featuring all original material from a selection of the bands and artists who represent the wide choice that is on offer here in the Essex Delta. The great blues & real r'n'b tradition that forms the musical backbone of the county that brought Dr Feelgood & Alison Moyet, to name but two, to the World, is blended with Chicago, West Coast, Texas, New Orleans and good old British Blues to create a hugely varied bill of fare that truly reflects the county's musical diversity. This CD truly contains something for everyone and can only serve to further advance the claim that the Essex Delta is the home of the Blues in the UK. Sit back and enjoy, then go out and catch the acts live!

PRESS RELEASE
Essex Delta Blues A Sampler - CD © Bad Moon Records 2004

November 18th sees the launch of Essex Delta Blues A Sampler, a CD featuring tracks from 17 Blues bands and artists from Essex compiled by Ray Bartrip of Bad Moon Records, himself a noted musician who plays in a number of bands, and Ashwyn Smyth, presenter of Digital Blues, a twice weekly programme on PhoenixFM.com, the Internet based local radio service for Brentwood & Billericay.
Both Ray & Ashwyn had, quite independently, nurtured the thought of putting together a CD to promote the fine Blues tradition that exists in Essex and a chance telephone conversation led to this collaboration about which they are both very excited.
Ashwyn said: Since Digital Blues was born in June 2001 it has become an important resource for the Blues community, both in Essex and surrounding areas, and one of our main thrusts has been the promotion of both local performers and venues through the radio shows and through web-based gig guides, news pages, e-mailings etc. We were honoured when we were described by a top Essex band who play all over the UK, Europe & Scandinavia as being the voice of the Blues for Essex.
This CD is a logical progression of this work as far as Digital Blues is concerned and as well as featuring tracks from the CD in our programming, we are undertaking a campaign of mailing copies of the CD to venues, promoters, radio stations etc. to bring to their attention the wealth of talent that resides in Essex and, we hope, to persuade them to give them airplay, gigs etc. to the featured artists and bands
The CD launch takes place at the New Crawdaddy Blues Club at the Belvedere, Hardings Elms Road, Crays Hill, Billericay, one of the top Blues venues in Essex, on Thursday 18th November when a number of those whose work appears on the CD will be playing live sets. Featuring more than fifty percent original material, the CD tracks cover a wide spectrum from the stunning solo work of Roy Mette, through duos such as the Jives & Los Tres Armadillos, a Burnham based trio, to top Essex bands such as Bad Town Blues, the Rockin Armadillos, the Swamp Cats and many more.
The tracks were recorded all over Essex although a number were laid down at Ray Bartrips Moon Studios in Romford. Ray said There has always been some formidable musical talent in Essex, much of which never gets recorded. I wanted not only to create a showcase to bring these bands to the attention of a wider audience but to create, with this and possible subsequent albums, an historic archive of the great Blues and RnB coming from our county.
